In my last few posts, I’ve talked about awareness and how most households are using more of their resources than they realize.
This isn’t because they don’t care, but because they have no awareness.

That’s where everything starts.

If you’ve ever tried to become more sustainable or make better choices, you’ve probably noticed that it doesn’t automatically change anything.

Good Intentions Don't Create Real Impact- Systems Do

In my previous posts, I talked about how sustainability doesn’t fail because people don’t care, but rather because usage isn’t visible and systems don’t exist.

Once you’re aware though, where do you even start?

Most don’t because it feels like too much. Do we track everything? That’s not realistic. So, to avoid the overwhelm, nothing gets tracked. You don’t need a full-blown system to start though, just a few consistent points of visibility.

Your First three Sustainability Metrics

You’re Wasting Water Every Day (Here’s Where)

Most people probably don’t think they’re wasting much water.

They take long hot showers, but shut off the water while brushing their teeth.
Take the recycling to the curb while they’re out watering the lawn.

They make good choices on some fronts, yet the average household wastes thousands of gallons of water every year, usually without even realizing it.
